Chris Rado/World Racing Time Attack Car

Yes, that's a giant wing on the front of Chris Rado's Time Attack car! Chris Rado and World Racing was out at Willow springs over the weekend, and they were able to capture first place in the FWD class, beating his last year's record by nearly 5 seconds and taking 5th overall.  Oh and back to the wing, many people said it was crazy, some people didn't think they were serious, but the numbers speak for themselves.  This weekend was more of a testing and setup session rather than competing, but they have done a great job!  Chris Rado and World Racing will be out at Buttonwillow next.  Check out more pics of the crazy wing after the break.

Our friends over at Berk Technology headed out to the Redline Time Attack event at Willow Springs this past weekend.  Their successful outing with a MR2, S2000 and 135i netted them first, fourth and fifth place, respectively in the Street RWD class.  A huge congratulations goes out to their hard working team.  Check out the photos and the full coverage over at Tunerzine.com.

Vizualtech Time Attach Nissan 200

Bo Zolland of Vizualtech has designed this Time Attack/street Nissan 200 SX for a Swedish client. The inspiration comes from a GT 500 JGTC series car. The car will feature a venturi tunnel, 600 HP turbo engine, and racing chassis. The body is carbon fiber.  More renderings after the break.

Lexus has just entered its two car team under team name Gazoo.  They will be campaigning twin Lexus LF-As.  "Mozio" the mystery driver will be one of the drivers for the cars, but rumor has it that its Akio Toyoda, grandson of Toyota's founded Kiichiro Toyoda.  This should be exciting to see the LF-As on the track.  More pics after the break.

Autoblog: Electric GreenGT Design Study Fortells the Future of LeMans

No, this isn't a stunt car from the Speed Racer. This is in fact the GreenGT. An all electric LeMons prototype designed by Thomas Clavet. Could the GreenGT be the first all electric race car to participate in LeMans? If GreenGT gets its act together in time for the 2011 event, the Switzerland-based firm could be the first.

Penned by French designer Thomas Clavet, the GreenGT design study seeks to revolutionize the face of motorsport with an FIA-certified EV comprised of a carbon fiber chassis and a fiberglass body. In theory, a pair of 100 kW water-cooled electric motors are mated to a proprietary gearbox, sending a prodigious amount of grunt to a set of magnesium OZ wheels shod in race-spec slicks. How prodigious? According to the GreenGT, the closed-cockpit racer will churn out between 350 and 450 hp and a pavement punishing 1,475 lb-ft of torque up to 100 mph, then reduced to 590 lb-ft to aid high-speed traction. According to the company, the 1,895-pound would reach 60 mph in under four seconds and on to a top speed of 171 mph. Power is supposedly funneled to a duo of lithium-ion batteries through a set of solar panels, and in addition to bringing two GreenGTs to LeMans in 2011, the firm plans to produce 22 road-going models within the next three years. Ambitious? Check. Plausible? We'll see.

Ferrari Threatens to Pull Out of F1

MILAN, Italy -- The storied Ferrari team threatened to not race in Formula One next season unless the sport's governing body revokes its new budget cap.

The Italian team, which has been involved in all 60 seasons of F1 competition, said Tuesday the new FIA guidelines were arbitrary and would set a double standard.

"The same rules for all teams, stability of regulations, the continuity of ... endeavors to methodically and progressively reduce costs, and governance of Formula One are priorities for the future," Ferrari said in a statement after a board meeting.

Snake River Region SCCA Event - Sunday May 3rd

Today marked another page in the books for the Snake River Region SCCA chapter.  With weather in the area and a wet ground most were skeptical about running.  The weather however did not turn a fun day of autocross to a dreadful day but added to the excitement and challenge facing those driving.   The first run group got stuck with a wet track and a constant drizzle to keep the course nice and wet.   With the wetness a lot of cars slowed down a bit and adapted the smooth is fast concept.  With a break in clouds on the horizon the second run group thought they would get the upper hand out the gates, but even with a little break the course still maintained it's wet state.  The second group was forced to also adapt into the smooth is fast racing style.
